Event Details

Sunday 2nd February  Choral Workshop 10.30am – 4.30pm

Ashirah – I will sing

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames and The Landmark Arts Centre are offering a special choral workshop celebrating Jewish musical culture, in particular that of East European Jews. A wide range of material, sacred and secular, traditional and new will be explored in Hebrew and Yiddish, but no knowledge of the languages is necessary.

Enjoy singing in a warm-hearted atmosphere under the guidance of Polina Shepherd, one of the world’s most charismatic and inspiring Jewish choir directors.

All singers are welcome. There will be some written music but also be prepared to learn by ear. Singers will also be expected to take part in the evening concert at 6pm on the same day.

The evening concert at 6pm will also feature Merlin Shepherd, one of the world’s leading players of traditional East European Klezmer Clarinet.

The workshop will cost £20 and for those people who wish to just come to the concert in the evening the cost is £5.

To book your place on the workshop or for tickets for the evening contact The Landmark arts centre on 0208 977 7558 or education@landmarkatrscentre.org

Tickets for the concert can also be booked online at www.landmarkartscentre.org
